Tyranid-Infested Junglescape

This board came together fairly quickly, which is good because it was on a very tight deadline! :P

It includes:
6'x4' Gaming Board with River
3x Capillary Towers
2x Spore fields (count as mine fields)
Large Digestion Pool
2x Large Forest Bases
3x Small Forest Bases

I am extremely pleased with the result of this commission; all aspects of it from the flocking to the tyranid growth, to the river and trees, ties together nicely to create a believable landscape.

It can be very difficult to create a convincing jungle theme, as a jungle is very built up and overgrown. While this would look good, it wouldn't make for a very playable gaming board.

The flocking helps to create the right feel; there are 3 tones of flocking on the board (light, medium and dark green) with a relatively high amount of coverage, and random patches of earth in between.

The river is also crucial to establishing a setting, and I crafted a curving, undulating stream to set the scene.

The trees are in my opinion the best part of this whole commission - I used a spiky plastic grass for bushes and jungle foliage which gives a totally different feel to my usual home-made foliage. I then complimented this with lichen moss which I dyed in various colours. The lichen adds a nice natural randomness to the trees and really fits the part of a jungle tree.

All of the Tyranid terrain has been painted in a scheme to match the recipient's own army, colour-matched to GW Leviathan Purple and GW Asurmen Blue. I really like the look of this scheme, and if I ever get around to collecting Tyranids I will definitely be using it!
