Moonscape Board! The Moonscape board was a seriously big project.
Hangars, containment pods with tyranid specimens, walkways, ramps, a fortress, and more... A lot of detail and time and effort went into this board, and it was all well worth it. This is one of my favourite boards I have produced. The board has a nice pockmarked surface, and was achieved by dripping condensed matte varnish spray onto the board. INFORMATION GATHERED FROM THE COMPUTER LOGS OF LOST BASE STATION:
ENTRY326ATR -
Strange meteor shower tonight. Debris seen to land in nearby ravine. A recon group has been scheduled to investigate the site at 0600.
ENTRY327ATR -
Recon group has discovered biological matter, possibly egg sacks or some form of spore. Materials have been placed under observation in quarantine, POD002.
...corrupted data...
ENTRY338ATR -
The egg sacks we have discovered have produced minor lifeforms, which according to the manual belong to the Tyranid genus, though I have not worked with them before. The forms appear to be in a comatose state; we have placed them in the hibernation tanks for further observation.
...corrupted data...
ENTRY342ATR-
Specimen in POD001 has been mutating rapidly, with several spikes in the visceral readings. All staff have been cautioned to exercise extreme care when dealing with the specimens. How exciting! The first recorded incubation of a live tyranid specimen!
ENTRY343ATR-
Disaster! The specimen from POD001 has escaped. In its wake it has spawned several more eggs sacks, similar to those recovered at the initial meteor site. The specimen appears to reproduce at an accelerated rate. The entire facility has been ordered into lockdown, and retreated to the main fortress.
LAST OF RETRIEVED DATA
According to official reports, an imperial flagship was sent to the location in response to distress signals. Upon reaching orbit, the ship recorded sightings of a Hive Fleet, and immediately retreated to report the findings.
All hope for the base station has been lost, and an Imperial Fleet is currently en route for engagement and clean up.
