The DIY Dungeon Deck
Introducing a fast and flexible way to plan your next adventure, or design one on the fly!
The DIY Dungeon Deck introduces a fun approach to building your next dungeon map.
Each card is patterned with a grid representing the floor of a dungeon. You can use a permanent marker or whiteboard marker to draw on the cards and create walls, hallways and rooms. Using a fine tip marker you can also add details and notes to your dungeon.
I created these cards as a fast and flexible way to plan new dungeon designs:
> draw right on the cards, using the tile pattern as your guide
> join cards together to make your dungeon bigger
> shuffle your designs together and place them at random to build dynamically evolving dungeons
> carry some cards in your pocket or your wallet so they are always on hand when you have an idea
Compatible with permanent markers for a permanent result. For temporary drawings, most whiteboard markers will rub off from the cards (varies brand to brand).

You can use the cards as a template for drawing larger maps onto a gaming mat, or use the cards as your sole reference in "theater of the mind" style role playing.
You could also draw map fragments onto the cards and hand them out to players as they explore, to use as clues in the game. Hand blank cards to players so they can map their adventure as they go. The standard deck contains 40 cards, including:
32 standard tiled cards 8 with diagonal tiles pattern Printed to high quality card stock. Cards are US Poker sized (3.5" x 2.5"). |
Also Available:
DIY Dungeon Deck 'Plaingrids'
This is the Plaingrids version, which features a simple printed grid as opposed to the stylistic tiles pattern on the original DIY Dungeon Deck.
This version of the deck allows you to be more flexible with your layouts, great for more abstract dungeon layouts like caves or natural terrain. If you prefer a more neutral backdrop to your dungeon layouts then this deck is for you. |
