DIY DICE BOX
ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Lay pieces out as pictured above and peel off protective masking paper from the faces of each piece to reveal the wood grain (leave protective paper on the back of the pieces for now).
2. assemble the main box structure (base, 4 sides), and run a bead of super glue along all inside edges. Place the lid piece on the top while the glue is drying to ensure a good fit (be careful to avoid it sticking to the glue).
3. Centre the felt liner and glue into place. Then obtain the notched piece/s pictured above and peel off the protective backing paper, then coat with super glue on one side. Glue into place inside box ends, pressing firmly for a tight fit.
4. Obtain the blank end pieces and peel off the protective paper. glue into place in the ends of the box, pressing firmly for a tight fit.
5. Add a dot of super glue into the resulting notched holes, and firmly press the magnets into the holes. Use the thin strips to press into place for ease.
6. Place the remaining thin strips into the ends of the box as pictured above, wood grain facing up. Apply a line of glue to the surface.
Press the lid into place so that it connects to the thin strips. Wait a few seconds and then remove the lid, so that the thin strips are now glued to the lid of the box as pictured above.
7. Finally, place the remaining magnets onto the magnets in the box, and mark the tops with a permanent marker. Remove each magnet and glue it dot-side down into the corresponding notched holes in the lid. Remove the last of the protective masking paper. The box assembly is now complete.
The wooden box can be stained a colour of your choice, or left plain. A light sand is recommended to remove loose bamboo strands, splinters, or sharps edges.
Once the resin faceplate has been painted, it too can be glued into place on the lid using super glue. You can use standard miniatures paints to paint the resin faceplate (eg/ citadel paints, gamesworkshop paints, Reaper paints, vallejo, etc) as well as Mtn spray paints. It is recommended to basecoat with a spray primer/undercoat for ease of painting. It is recommended to use a clear coat sealant spray (matte or gloss) for lasting durability of your paint work.
