Giant Dead Tree
This entire tree is solid-cast in resin from an original mould designed by me. I will be uploading a video onto youtube shortly with the full process from start to finish which will be an interesting watch ;) I'll post the link below for it.
This particular version of the tree has been painted pale white-grey for a dead look, and is overgrown with mosses and weeds. I have used a variety of fine foam flocks, dry grasses, and lichen shoots.
The tree is based on sturdy foamcore board textured with ultracal30, gravel, woodchips and small rocks for a multi-layered texture. I have also added fallen branches and rotted logs to the base, likewise cast in resin.
The trunk has a huge amount of detail in it - deeply textured bark, large knots and holes, cracks, lumps and bumps. I have spent a great deal of effort making this piece as great as it possibly can be.
The sculpt for this piece took around 7 hours, then moulding was another good 3-4 hours, not including the setting time which was overnight. Then the piece was cast in resin, based, painted and flocked, another 2-3 hours. Phew!
